Well, really it was Martin Luther King Day, which is an important holiday. Our craft in his honor was making freedom bells and they all turned out wonderfully! More than a few conversations about the reason for holiday and the bells were overheard.
However, the day off of school brought in a few older kids that wanted a little bit more of a challenge. I offered one of them a scavenger hunt and word quickly got around that we had both a picture version and a more challenging word one available. Then, the hunting began! These kids were all so observant, some of the items on the list are a wee bit tricky, but they all found everything and loved the compasses they got as prizes.
